Lancashire promises savings on services

Lancashire CC's deputy leader has vowed the council can make bigger savings than the 10% delivered by its now-axed controversial partnership with BT. Cllr David Borrow added the One Connect partnership had been legally disbanded without cost to the council. The deal sparked an ongoing police investigation into allegations over payments and contracts, and led to the departure of chief executive Phil Halsall 'by mutual agreement' last year. Under the new arrangements agreed by cabinet last week, the council will take back control of services including welfare rights, care and support, pay policy, pensions, benefits, learning, and human resources.
