The news that local authorities are to be given powers to hold motor races on public roads at last means (in theory, at least) that we are one step closer to a local government computer game. After all, we've had Need for Speed, Grand Theft Auto and Mario Kart. Perhaps we can now have District Council Derby? Or County Council Rally? The possibilities are endless Or perhaps we could have Grant Theft Unitary, where you have to attend overview and scrutiny committees to gain enough points to complete your mission and race off into the sunset One by one, you could take over all the borough councils in your area before bringing all their back office functions together in one authority to rule them all. Frankly, Diary thinks local government is an untapped mine of computer game action. Who needs Rock Band, when you can have the unadulterated thrill of cabinet meetings.
