The Northern Ireland Executive has agreed to transfer a series of powers over to councils from April 2015 onwards.The region's environment minister, Alex Attwood, said the powers include planning, roads and urban regeneration.The transfer will also include the delivery of the EU rural development programme, listing of buildings and local sports decisions.'The more power in local hands, the more democratic our society and the more likely that local people will get the local services they need said Mr Attwood.
