There's more to the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) than meets the eye. Yes, we deal with complaints about local authorities. But we also support local complaint handling, and influence improvement in the delivery of local services. The challenge for LGO is to develop greater public understanding of the role we can - and should - play. The LGO is not a regulator - but we are part of the regulatory landscape, and take account of compliance with regulatory frameworks, for example, in complaints about adult social care provision.
