DCLG accepts 'lessons to be learned1 from MRS

The DCLG has acknowledged it must learn 'serious lessons' from the hasty introduction of the mortgage rescue scheme (MRS) during the recession. A National Audit Office report, published on 25 May, revealed ministers' swift introduction of the MRS in 2009 helped 2,600 households avoid repossessions, at a cost of /240m.
