Cheshire East Council is to increase its spending on adult and children services next year, despite a cut of£8.8m in government grant for 2011.12. The unitary authority, set up in 2009, is also freezing council tax, thereby receiving government match-funding of£4.4m, equal to a 2.5% increase. Planned gross council spending for 2011/12 is £587.7m, £4.8m lower than the previous year's figure, of£592.5m.
