Unitary drives social care choice

Modernising social care will include a drive to increase choice for one council. Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched a new charter to give people more choice over how their social care is delivered. The Charter for Personalisation of Adult Social Care will enable residents who receive care services to tailor those services around their individual needs. The council's execu-tive member for adult and health services, Cllr Brenda Dowling, said the charter was drawn up in collaboration with local user groups. 'If we are truly to enable our citizens to make choices, then the first step is to involve them in the council's policy development processes,' said Cllr Dowling.
