David Wareing, chief executive of Worcester City Council, is to retire at the end of the month. He has spent 10 years at the helm - and 23 years at the council. Mr Wareing started his career at Bromsgrove RDC in 1967. He later became a director at Test Valley BC, at the age of 28. He said: 'I am as interested in, and stimulated by, working in local government today as I was when I started 40 years ago.' Alan Stuttard has been appointed acting head of paid service at Worcester City Council from 1 March to the end of 2009. He was previously the council's head of safer and stronger communities.
