In all areas of life many of the most memorable achievements have been delivered through partnerships. They say 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts', which is true for partnerships, too.At this year's World Economic Forum, Jonathan Auerbach, PayPal's executive vice president, hailed partnership as the key business trend to watch, while warning that it does not come without its difficulties.Business partnerships are a bit like relationships, some do not work out and others are very happy. Perhaps the common theme for those successful partnerships are those built upon trust, respect and a shared vision.These are challenging times, with austerity biting hard and budget cuts creating constant pressure to do more with less. In addition, the pursuit to generate new revenue streams, structures and responsibilities are always shifting. So what is the most appropriate delivery model and how can we create public services that truly service the public? The answer is partnership.
