NHS England involves the public in funding decisions

Patients and the public in England are being asked to help develop sustainability and transformation plans (STPs) for the NHS, as part of the Government's plan to make savings of £20bn by 2020. NHS England (NHSE) recently published national advice for local NHS and social care leaders who are drawing up STPs. The document sets out how they should 'put the communities they serve at the heart of their work'. Under plans set out in January this year, local leaders have come together in 44 STP areas, covering every part of England, to decide how available funding can meet local needs, in the light of rising demand and more complex patient needs.
