Brum leaders claim change programme will progress at pace

Birmingham City Council chief executive Mark Rogers has insisted his authority will not get behind on its improvement journey again. Speaking at a public meeting held by the Birmingham Independent Improvement Panel last week, Mr Rogers said: 'We are ensuring that we are paying greater attention to detail across the [change] programme and that it is being delivered to the time and budgets we have.' The council's Labour leader, Sir Albert Bore, added: 'I believe the pace we have injected into the future council project is one the panel can recognise. We have accelerated the pace and that pace will be maintained.' A letter published by the panel in July had criticised the speed of progress and the council's lack of vision.
