Bed-blocking close to record The number of days patients spent in hospital due to so-called bed blocking in June was the second-highest figure on record. However, the 171,298 days patients needlessly spent in hospital was a reduction on the previous month. She added: 'By addressing issues that cut across health and social care, patient services can be improved.'
