Leicestershire CC is saving /im a year by restructuring its finance section, as part of/57m efficiency savings over the next four years. The finance savings, 25% higher than planned, include centralised monitoring to help budget managers, setting up a helpdesk to support staff, and creating teams to provide aid for service departments. As a result, managers have more control over their budgets and duplication of effort is reduced.
