Local authorities' expertise in protecting communities must not be 'cast aside' under Home Office plans to combat antisocial behaviour, council chiefs warned this week. A Home Office white paper published on 22 May, sets out plans to hand local agencies flexible powers to deliver swift redress for victims of regular nuisance, disorder and crime. Home Secretary, Theresa May, claimed that in contrast to previous government attempts to tackle anti-social behaviour, the Coalition's proposed solutions to anti-social behaviour were local in approach.
