Wirral MBC's interim chief ex-ecutive, Jim Wilkie, looks set to take up the post on a permanent basis, following a council meet-ing later this month.Mr Wilkie, who was deputy chief executive before taking over as interim when the-then chief executive, Steve Maddox, retired in September 2010, has been recommended as the council's new top officer after a selection process which at-tracted 25 applications.
