Flint lays into Government planning changes

Shadow communities secretary Caroline Flint this week accused the Government of throwing the planning system into 'disarray'. Ms Flint attacked the coalition's proposed planning reforms, after chancellor George Osborne and local government secretary Eric Pickles penned a joint letter to the Financial Times defending the government's controversial planning reforms. The communities secretary and the chancellor said proposals to create a national planning policy framework (NPPF) would boost economic growth and simplify the process. They said planning delays are currently costing the UK economy £3bn a year and deterring foreign investment.
