The prime minister has led a strong defence of health reforms, with a warning services would be unaffordable without change. As the second reading of the Health and Social Care Bill got under way this week, David Cameron hit back at critics who have claimed the radical agenda is little more than enforced competition. He argued that the biggest risk was doing nothing, since the costs of people living longer and medical advances were pushing up costs.
