Study finds improvement in payment-by-results data

Health watchdogs have reported improvements in the accuracy of data used by the NHS's payment-by-results (PbR) system, designed to ensure fair hospital funding. According to the Audit Commission's annual study of PbR data for 2011/12, the individual performance of primary care trusts varies each year - with many failing to maintain consistently good levels of accuracy, and some blighted by continued poor performance.
