Local government minister Bob Neill has described as unacceptable 'eye-watering pay-offs' made to senior council staff following fresh revelations about 'golden goodbyes'. Mr Neill's comments followed news that former Kent CC boss, Katherine Kerswell, received the biggest pay-off across the local government sector during 2011/12 - departing with £589,165 - after serving as the county's managing director for just 20 months.
