Launched in the run-up to Christmas last year, Mary Portas' review into reviving town centres has helped shine a spotlight on the importance of high streets. Like many other local authorities, Waltham Forest LBC was already investing in its high streets long before the Portas review was published. The importance of these locally-iconic streets and their role in creating a sense of community together with providing jobs and important services to residents is at the heart of the council's vision to regenerate the borough.
