Did any of us really think that Team GB would do so well in the London Olympics? There is little doubt the results were excellent, but before the games started, we might not have dreamed such feats could be achieved. It is similar in social care, where staff and managers can sometimes feel overwhelmed by what they have to do and could, quite justifiably, see excellence as an unattainable and alien concept.
