Surrey outlines £25m savings

Surrey CC this week outlined plans to save £25m over the next financial year, through tighter deals with contractors. In 2011£12, the authority achieved savings of£30m from new contracts. This included a road maintenance and improvement deal with May Gurney, which saves £4.1m a year compared with previous arrangements. Surrey CC's council leader David Hodge, said: 'Value for money is at the heart of everything the council does and we're determined to continue making sure we get the best deal for taxpayers.'
