Giant profits boost

Annual results issued by infrastructure giant Balfour Beatly have shown an improved level of underlying profit across all divisions of the firm, except for construction services. In local government, the group said moves to integrate contracts and lengthen their duration had created an opportunity to build order books by £475m.
