LGA defends right of authorities to 'sit on planning cash'

The leader of the Independent Group on the LGA has defended councils accused of sitting on planning cash aimed at improving communities. Cllr Marianne Overton made her comments after quizzing planning minister Nick Boles on the s106 agreements at the LGA's latest councillors' forum. After the forum, Cllr Overton said: 'I'm sure it's a varied picture around the country but some of those concerned about their resources have used it to make ends meet.
