Care report urges increased control on commissioning

Councils should be given more control - even possibly complete control - over health commissioning, according to a new report by think tank Localis. The report, entitled In Sickness and in Health, was launched on 3 September by care minister Norman Lamb, and recommends the Government look at how the new health system is working 2015, with particular regard to health and wellbeing boards. It states the Government should look at expanding councils' powers over health commissioning, if the boards are not having enough influence.
