Put people first, says healthcare chief

The new head of Healthwatch England has called for health and social care services to be centred around the needs of people. Speaking to The MJ ahead of its national launch on 11 April, Health-watch England director, Dr Katherine Rake said the national organisation will act as a consumer champion and be a 'megaphone' for local groups. 'For an effective health and social care system to work it has to be centred around people and there is plenty of evidence to suggest that, at the moment that is not the case,' said Dr Rake.
