'New business models needed' for integrated services

Integrating frontline services at neighbourhood level will require a new generation of business models, a leading think-tank has reported this week. Entitled The DIY Ethic -business models for community integration, the latest paper from the New Local Government Network outlines how local areas should transform public services. Report author, Laura Wilkes, who led a pioneering 'Our Place' neighbourhood Community Budget in Kingston upon Thames RLBC, told The MJ that because the Government could not hope to solve huge challenges, such as the ageing population, alone, the need to enlist the support of service users and communities would assume greater importance.
