Based around the oil and gas industry, many multinational businesses have made Aberdeen their headquarters and this in turn has led to inward investment with industry, workforce and support services all making the city their home. It is this dynamic, international role that places Aberdeen in an enviable position to deliver real economic growth to maintain not only its own economy, but also to support the UK's on-going economic recovery. There is a crucial role for infrastructure in enhancing this economic development. In recent decades the expansion of Aberdeen has put the city's infrastructure under pressure and investment in some areas has struggled to keep pace with the demands of a booming economy.
