Funding review 'a priority'

The local government fair funding review is a priority and could be implemented by 2020/21, Whitehall insiders have suggested. Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) officials are said to be working with ministers to 'fully understand the implications of a timeline for the fair funding review that works towards potential implementation' from 2020/21. The first step is a planned consultation on relative need this autumn ahead of the 2018/19 local government finance settlement.
