Council apologises for court order breach

Gloucestershire CC has apologised to the parents of a child after a judge ruled the council breached a court order when it took the youngster into care. The county has also said it will strengthen senior managers' local safeguarding roles to prevent a repeat of the incident. Under the terms of an existing care order, the county's social services staff had said they would seek to send the child to live with its father if they removed the youngster from its mother. Instead, in early June and without prior notice, the council placed the child, aged less than two, into foster care.
