The power of perceptions

While we cannot always change the harsh realities of the impact of public sector cuts on communities, we can alter how people feel about them. We can change perceptions - and in time we can change behaviour.That's not to diminish the reality of fiscal tightening. But it's important if communities are to continue to value public services they are able to appreciate what they have rather than what they used to have. Financial pressures are such that the past days of relative plenty are unlikely to return.
