Like other areas of London, Waltham Forest is dealing with severe housing pressures as demand grows in this increasingly popular part of the capital.Major regeneration schemes, a booming economy and excellent transport links have made it a magnet for house hunters.This has led to rising rents and house prices - a recent survey by Halifax found the north-east London borough is the UK's seventh least affordable place for first-time buyers.Accommodating growth and ensuring existing residents have access to high quality, affordable homes is therefore one of the council's overriding priorities.That's reflected in the launch of a recruitment campaign to find two divisional directors and an assistant director who will be tasked with taking forward exciting projects and finding new ways to tackle the issue.
