Commissioner quits

The commissioner appointed to oversee children's services at Northamptonshire CC has resigned. Malcolm Newsam was appointed by the Government in November to 'stabilise and improve' services protecting vulnerable children. His appointment followed a report by Ofsted that found social workers in Northamptonshire had been 'overwhelmed' by caseloads and a lack of urgency to improve.
