Naylor made for the job

Sarah Naylor stands out among the middle-aged men at most local government gatherings. The petite 35-year-old, with long blonde hair, was the youngest assistant chief executive in the country when she was appointed at Southwark LBC, almost two years ago. But there's serious substance beneath the attractive exterior. Ms Naylor's comments at a recent SOLACE seminar on Ger-shon were bang on the mark, and her 13-year career has included spells at the Audit Commission, Lambeth LEC, and advising the Czech Republic on local government finance and governance, after the collapse of the communism.
