The city council-organised 2010 Leeds International Film Festival has just wrapped, and attracted a record audience of 29,000 people. The 18-day festival included a sell-out screening of The King's Speech, starring Colin Firth, which was filmed partly in Leeds. Hampshire CC has been commended for providing good value for money in the way it manages its staff, time and money. In her annual letter to the authority, the district auditor said Hampshire CC had a good track record in managing resources and delivering efficiencies. Manchester City Council is taking the lead on a European project to roll out a series of Internet-based services and mobile phone applications to improve the environment.
