Authorities unite to celebrate winning £335m engine plant

Three West Midlands councils have united in celebration at Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) decision to invest /355m building its new engine plant within the Black Country Enterprise Zone, creating 750 direct jobs. Staffordshire CC, Wolver-hampton City Council and South Staffordshire DC made a joint pitch to JLR, owned by Indian firm, Tata, promoting the benefits of the site. Only awarded enterprise zone status by ministers in August, together with 10 other second-wave applicants from across England, the 91 hectare site, comprising three-quarters of the total zone, falls across Staffordshire and the Black Country.
