Shadow communities secretary, Caroline Flint, is expected to float details of Labour's plan to overhaul Britain's housing sector at next week's party conference in Liverpool. In what will be a nod towards the forthcoming final report of her housing policy review, Ms Flint will turn her attention towards the renewal of social housing - particularly who qualifies for state assistance and why - as well as her early thoughts on oversight of, and standards within, the private rented sector. Plans to improve access to housing for youngsters, including through equity-based schemes, could also feature, Labour sources told The MJ.
