摘要

Halfway through the politi-cal terms, we have a newly reshuffled government, and we sit on the eve of the party conferences. While most of the national news has so far focused on the blond bombshell that is Boris Johnson - and will probably continue to do so - the reality of party conference season will be very different. Much as we may all want to watch a political coup from the sidelines - or maybe thafs just me - there are a few more pressing matters to deal with. I'd like to think the party conferences would be preoccupied by talk of how to set the economy back on its feet and get out of recession, but probably not.
