Sofa so good...

Volunteers on the annual Birmingham Canal Navigations Clean Up weekend are pictured dragging a sofa out of the Dudley No 2 Canal, during a weekend which saw 30 tons of junk removed from the length between Blowers Green and Gosty Hill. Over 100 volunteers from organisations including Waterway Recovery Group, the BCN Society and local branches of the Inland Waterways Association took part in the event which aims to keep the less well-frequented parts of the BCN navigable. They hauled out numerous bicycles, several motorbikes, old tyres of all sizes from pram to lorry, and more exotic items including a caravan chassis.
