The Government's flagship universal credit (UC) plan is vulnerable to fraud, experts warned this week. EK Services, a consultancy providing shared services for Canterbury, Dover and Thanet councils in Kent, warned the UC computer system is at risk of abuse because it will not use a property database to assess claims. Giving evidence to the Commons communities and local government committee on 7 January, EK Services' assistant director of customer delivery, Andrew Stevens, said: 'Tenancy fraud is a real concern. As I understand it, the universal credit computer system will not work off a property database.
