Caution urged over response to Rotherham CSE scandal

Senior local government figures have warned of the difficulties in taking action against officers at the centre of Rotherham's child sexual exploitation (CSE) scandal. Members of the communities and local government committee raised the prospect of taking further disciplinary and managerial action after being told senior Rotherham MBC officers should have done more to fully alert councillors to the true scale of the problems. Professor Alexis Jay, the author of the devastating CSE report, heaped blame on the council's leadership when she appeared before the committee on Monday.
