Councils in bid to gain multi-CA membership

Councils have called for a change in the law to allow them to be full members of more than one combined authority. Work is under way to create combined authorities in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, but a number of second-tier authorities look towards economic regions beyond the traditional borders of their county, prompting fears that already established partnerships will suffer. Chesterfield BC and Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Derbyshire Dales and North East Derbyshire DCs are all non-constituent members of the Sheffield city region combined authority. But they are now being asked to join emerging combined authorities being spearheaded by their respective traditional counties.
