正Xie Yuan,born in Beijing in 1959 and a graduate of Beijing Foreign Studies University,joined the CPAFFC in 1985 and has engaged in people-to-people diplomacy ever since,serving successively as deputy director and director of the U.S.Division,and deputy director general and director general of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs.He worked as the First Secretary of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States in the late 1990s.
