Council chiefs plan to waste little time developing an ethics code covering senior local authority officers - with a high-level meeting already earmarked for next month. The MJ has learned that 12 major local authority bodies have been invited to join an ethics steering group that will meet for the first time on 24 March. A proposed code of ethics is the brainchild of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers (SOLACE), and could become an over-arching statement based on the values and behaviours expected of officers employed across all local public services.
