Spending Review length to impact fair funding

A minister has said a one-year settlement for local government would pose a 'challenge' for implementing the fair funding review in 2020/21. Local government minister Rishi Sunak told MPs this week that a transition period would be required to switch to the new system once the review has been completed. However, he acknowledged this would be complicated if a one-year funding agreement was struck with the Treasury instead of a multi-year settlement.
