Sector can benefit from devolution of visa quotas

The devolution of immigration quotas to local government is among the proposals by a think-tank aimed at bolstering place-based health. In its latest report published today, Localis recommended giving control of setting visa quotas for sectors to partnerships of local authorities and NHS trusts. Primarily aimed at ensuring social care and health workforces will not suffer after Brexit due to their reliance upon immigrant labour, it could also boost economies, Localis argued.
