In these bleak times it's heartening to see the appointment of a new director of children's services being announced with child-like excitement. The picture announcing the appointment of director Mac Heath -posted on Twitter by Milton Keynes Council chief executive Michael Bracey - demonstrated the retention of a child-like sense of fun and wonder. Diary can only hope that Mr Heath didn't go bananas over Mr Bracey feeling the need to point out that he was on the left of the picture.
