摘要

Police and prosecutors rely heavily on forensic evidence to prove cases. Forensic evidence has also become increasingly important to jurors, who expect to see in the courtroom the same kind of forensic evidence they see on crime scene television programs. Battling the "CSI Effect" - which some say creates unrealistic expectations about forensic science in jurors - has become a routine theme for prosecutors in criminal jury trials. In the wake of a 2009 report by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), law enforcement professionals may now face more obstacles when it comes to presenting forensic evidence.
