On Friday, January 4, eleven new officers were introduced to the public by Chief Gordon Ramsay and sworn in at the Duluth Police Department by Judge Shaun Floerke. The recruit officers began academy training last fall and started field training with their assigned patrol crews on January 10. Among the new officers is Dean Bauers whose father, Sergeant Dennin Bauers, retired from the Duluth Police Department after a 25 year career. Unfortunately, Dennin did not get to see Dean follow in his footsteps-he died tragically after being struck in the head by a hockey puck on January 1, 2006.
