Ultimate S Brakes

Before the advent of 8.4-inch discs and four-pot alloy callipers, Cooper S brakes (with 7.5-inch diameter solid discs) represented the ultimate in Mini stopping power. Today they still provide excellent stopping power, they are a must on a classic rebuild and are the most economical way to retain very good stopping power when converting a 12 or 13-inch wheeled Mini to accept 10-inch wheels. S callipers are still in production by the original manufacturers, AP Braking, and, interestingly, sales of all the original S components are booming. It must make fitting S brakes one of the most popular Mini mods of all time. In standard form S brakes will stop even fairly highly tuned Minis. With a disc and pad upgrade they will stop very highly tuned Minis effectively. S brakes have provided braking for many a race and rally Mini and they are used on Mini Se7en racers good for 0-60mph in around 4.5-seconds.
